Bridal Veils 101: Lengths, Styles and How to Match Yours to Your Gown

A veil is often the final piece that pulls a bridal look together, and because we design and create the majority of our veils in store, you have far more freedom than most brides realise.

Veil lengths explained

A birdcage or shoulder length veil is playful and modern. An elbow or fingertip veil is the classic all rounder that suits nearly every gown. A chapel or cathedral veil adds drama and photographs beautifully for a formal ceremony. The right length usually mirrors the formality of your gown and your venue.

Matching the detail to your gown

If your gown has lace, we can echo that lace along the veil edge. If it sparkles with crystals, we can scatter matching sparkle through the tulle. Some brides even add a ribbon trim or a touch of colour. The point is that your veil should feel like part of the same story as your dress, not an afterthought.

When to try your veil

We recommend trying veils once you have chosen your gown, ideally at a fitting so you can see the two together with your shoes and accessories. Visit our accessories page to see a sample of our veils, jewellery and bridal shoes.
